10 Things - To do when your Bored

To Do When You Are Bored
  1. Google random stuff like your name, etc
  2. Facebook you can waste a lifetime checking up on you friends, like-ing various pages like this one :) and playing those annoying games which are highly addictive like Sugar Crush which you just have to try.
  3. Paint you Nails if you anything like me you have loads of nail varnishes so instead of changing it on a weekly/daily basis change then on a hourly one!
  4. Window shop on the internet fill a load of virtual shopping baskets it's it's better than the real thing as you don't get the shop assistant giveing you the eye when you try on 10 things and don't buy them, their just pissed cause they have to put it all back.
  5. Cool/Bake my favorite thing to bake when i'm bored is bread cause it takes a while, you have to mix it, knead it, prove it, knead it again, shape it, prove it again the bake it. You'll kill at least 2-3 hours.
  6. Eat, this isn't such a good thing but when i'm bored I eat so if your bored a lot just make sure you don't have any sweets or chocolates and any of the good/bad stuff lying around.
  7. Watch Friends DVD's from the very beginning all 238 episodes that's approx 5000 minutes/ 83 Hours / 3.5 Days! ( when I was researching those numbers I found THIS article mad person ).
  8. Clean your House/Flat/Room this will use up loads of time Plus you will have an nice clean environment to chill in or to enjoy doing Point 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9 and 10 in.
  9. Read through all the Tweets you have ever sent, then trough some of the people you follow like Me.
  10. and finally Make some Lists it's pretty fun (I think) you can do them about anything they can be helpful or pointless but it doesn't really matter.
What do you do when your bored?
Sorry for the plug fest!

Alison Claire Lip Balms

I am a massive fan of lip balms I think it is because as you probably already know I don't wear lip sticks or lip glosses but I do like a soft smooth lips so I am constantly tying out new balms. So when glossy box sent me a email with an offer of a FREE Alison Claire So Remarkable lip balm with every order placed on their website I jumped at the chance to try out something new.

Alison Claire is not a brand I had heard of before I had a sample in glossy box so I checked out their website. The So Remarkable range of products are made with Ingredients sourced from the "best raw materials of the highest available purity," they "prepare and blend them by hand to ensure that what they produce is only the very best."
I decided as I got a free lip balm and there were Five in the range I would get another couple to see what they were like. The full range included, Coconut, Peppermint and the three I had Apricot, Mango and Lime.

 Apricot Lip Balm
"A fresh and fruity zing and an exotic fragrance plus the anti-microbial action of rosewood, lime, orange, vanilla, grapefruit and coconut oils. Nourishment and protective refreshment for the lips."

Mango Lip Balm
"A superbly luxurious blend of cocoa, mango and shea butters for the sensual moisturisation. Shea and mango contain antioxidants, which help boost your lips own defences  and mango also has anti-microbial constituents. A great triple combination in a natural buttery balm,"

Lime Lip Balm
"Look after your lips with shea butter and cocoa butter in a balm that's fragranced and flavoured with lime and apricot oils to add anti-microbial and antioxidant properties, This simple combination of active ingredients even has natural defensive properties against UV light. Simplicity itself - and it's tasty too!"

The lime one has to be my favourite one as it smells amazing and it's such a different flavour to have in a lip balm. Each pot costs just £2.50 and I can tell you that they are totally worth it they leave my lips feeling very soft and moisturised without feeling too greasy. The only down side it that they are in a pot and ideally I like a traditional stick balm but I can over look that.

Have you tried Alison Claire products?
Do you have any recommendations for lip balms I can try?
If you do I would love to hear them just leave them in the comments below.

Chocolate Chip Shortbread

If you have been reading my blog for a while now you will know that I love to bake and for a while now I have been doing it on a pretty regular basis ever since I did my bake sale for comic relief, my passion has become even more and I thought I would share with you some of the things I make.

Last week I decided to Make something from the Paul Hollywood Baking book I have for Christmas last year. So I decided to make Buttery Shortbread Biscuits  The recipe was basic but suggested adding different flavours and I decided Chocolate chips were a good choice.

225g unsalted butter, softened
110g caster sugar plus extra for dusting
225g plain flour plus extra for dusting
110g cornflour
Pinch of salt
100g chocolate chips or rasins

Line a brownie pan or baking tray with baking parchment or grease with butter

In a large bowl put the butter and the sugar and cream together with an electric hand held mixer until light and fluffy. Then sift the flour, cornflour and salt in to the  bowl and mix together until smoothly combined, then turn out on to a lightly floured surface and knead to a soft dough this is where you put the chocolate chips of any other flavours.

There are two ways you can do it from here if you want shaped shortbread roll the dough between two pieces of baking paper until about 1 cm thick then you can cut you shapes with either a knife or cookie cutters, and place on the baking tray. Or like me you can press the dough into a brownie pan and smooth to the edges.

Put the prepared shortbread in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 170oc. Before you put the shortbread on the oven mark it ready for cutting  I also pricked mine with a fork for added pattern.

Bake the shortbread for about 20 minutes, until turning golden brown at the edges. Leave on the baking trays to cool and firm then dust with icing sugar and then cut leave to go completely cool. They will keep in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

Enjoy them they're really good.

If you give these a go please tweet me a picture I would love to see them.
What should I bake next?
