Becoming Ursula!

I recently went to my cousins Birthday party which was Fancy Dress. At previous parties I have been Snow White and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I decided to stick to Disney theme but try my hand at one of the Villain's and I decided on Ursula the Sea Witch from the Little Mermaid (as we have a similar body type lol). I loved the idea of having very strong make-up and the costume I found pretty easy to put together.

 Products I used

The first step was the hair I didn't want to wear a wig so I decided to create a large quiff on the top of my head and pin up what was left. Under that bump is a bit of back combing and a large hair doughnut cut into two and pinned to my head. I fixed the hair over the top and pinned it with grips at the back. I fixed it with a ton of hair spray which I later covered it with Lee Stafford white hair spray. I apologize for the No make-up Picture!!!

Next I needed to set my eyebrows so that they could be easily covered and kinda disappear. You do this using a glue stick (like pritt stick) go over the eye brow back and forth until completely covered then smooth down flat with an eye brow brush do this a couple of times and they will be so flat they become part of your skin (don't worry it comes off really easy with a baby wipe). I put a little concealer over the top of the brows once they were dry. Then I applied the face paint all over my face neck and chest with a slightly damp sponge. I used Snazaroo face paint in the colour Light Grey.

I then began with the eyes, I primed the eyes with urban decay eye primer potion and I used a very bright blue eye shadow all over the eyes over the crease and almost up to my 'real' eye brows, I also took in under the eye. I then drew on my fake eye brow with my Barry M black eyebrow pencil I did it quite light at first so I could fix mistakes. It comes from the very inner corner of the eye and is a very high arch going up onto the forehead and coming down level with the outer corner of the eye I then filled in the space between the blue and the eye brow with  quite an odd colour it was a pewter/silver/grey colour with a hint of shimmer, anyway I really packed it on to make sure my real eye brows were covered once I was happy I blended the line so it wasn't so harsh. I then lined my tight line and water line with my Barry M eyeliner. I then went over the eyebrow with an Eyeco felt tip liner to give a very strong black line.

I did try to put on fake eyelashes on but I was really struggling as I don't wear them usually so I decided to just use mascara. The first coat I used was the Benefit They're Real and then once dry I put on Yves Rocher Sexy Pulp Mascara which made my lashes look long and thick. I then added the beauty spot with the Eyeco eyeliner. Then it was just the lips to finish the look. I drew on the exaggerated lips making the cupids bow very prominent and giving myself a fuller bottom lip first with a MUA lip liner and filled in with MUA Red lip stick and I topped it with Lipcote to seal in the colour. FYI the Lipcote kept this colour on all night I was very impressed.

My costume was made up from an old dress with the straps tucked in and the purple top was white and I dyed it lilac. The Legs/Tentacles were made from tights stuffed a little with the inside of a cushion and a metal coat hanger, the purple side of the Legs/Tentacles was pillow cases glued on and I even had suckers which I cut out of purple felt. The necklace I bought from here after a Google search and that just finished the whole thing off along with Ariel which I bought from The Disney Store.

Here are some of the other people who went to the party most of whom are family.

What do you think did I do a good job?
What would you go as to a Fancy dress party?
