August Spending Ban

Last year I decided to go on a 60 day spending ban to save a bit of money and use up some of the many products I already own. It didn't do great but it certainly went better than I thought. So I decided to give it  another go. The main reason for this is, it turns out most of my family and friends were born in late June and July, and with my recent holiday as well money is a little tight to say the least, so as well as working a little more than usual I will be putting myself on a spending ban for the whole of August. Hopefully this will mean when Christmas comes (and it's right around the corner Gulp!) it won't wipe me out completely.

Rules I'll be sticking by:-
- I will not be buying Clothes, shoes, Accessories, Nail varnish, make-up, or skincare (which will encourage me to use what I already have!)
- I will not be downloading music, DVD's books or Apps. Unless they are free!
- No cheats/extra moves on Candy Crush! which I'm addicted to by the on Way Level 236 Baby!!
- I won't be buying non Essential Foods like sweets, chocolate and takeaways
 - I can Buy Birthday Presents ( but there are non!)
- I can Buy Essential Food and Petrol
- Obviously I can Pay Bills
- I can spend money on Day trips or Nights out but on a budget or even better free!
- If I find the perfect dress for my Sisters Birthday party in October with a limit of £50 I will allow myself to buy that and that alone!

I will keep you posted on how I am doing, and window shopping is free so perhaps I share with you some of the things going on my wish list.

Is this something you would think of doing?

  2. Wow! Good luck! I should probably try that because I am trying to save up for a new camera but I would fail instantly! As you can tell, my saving isn't going very well...

  3. Good luck on your challenge! I've been closely monitoring my spending habits too and despite me still spending (usually on a budget), I would conclude I've saved more money this summer than any other summer. Keep us posted!
