Maybelline Super Stay 24h Foundation

In this new series I wanted to share with you some of my
favorite things from my Make-up Bag.

Foundation is one of those things I will never stop trying the latest thing, but for now my firm choice is Maybelline Super Stay 24 hour Foundation in the shade 010 Ivory.

This foundation has an SPF19 and is suitable for all skin types it has a medium coverage and allows your own skin to show through but if you like a full coverage it is totally build-able. It claims to stay on your face for 24 hours and it does live up to it, the only places it wore a little was my T-zone where I get slightly oily throughout the day. When it comes to the finish it is neither matt or dewy so perfect for any preference.

I'm not gonna lie and say this is the only foundation that I use, but is it the one I go back to time after time. At only £8.99 it is defiantly worth a go.

Slimming World Curry

I have done the Slimming World 'diet' program a few times in the past and when I have done it it had worked well for me, my problem is keeping it up. One thing I have always kept up is buying the monthly magazines because they have some brilliant recipes and as I am starting it all over again on Thursday I wanted to share with you a really great recipe for a curry.

Lamb Korai

Serves 4      Syns per serving - Extra Easy Free (curry only)
Fry Light
3 onions, finely chopped
4 tsp medium curry powder
2 green chillies halved
3 cloves of garlic chopped finely
thumb sized piece of ginger finely chopped
4 tomatoes roughly chopped
500g lamb leg steaks with all visible fat removed and cut into bite size chunks
450ml lamb stock
2 green peppers cut into bite sized pieces
250g chestnut mushrooms quartered
salt and pepper

1.  Preheat your oven to 180°C/fan 160°C/gas 4 if you are using a casserole dish or like me you could use a slow cooker. Spray the pan with fry light and add the onions and stir-fry  on low for 10 minutes or until softened, but not coloured.

2.  Stir in the curry powder, chillies, garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute. Turn the heat up to medium, add tomatoes and cook, stiring for 4-5 minutes or until the liquid has evaporated.
3.  Add the lamb and cook, stirring for 5-10 minutes until browned. Add the stock, bring to the boil then add the peppers and the mushrooms then season. Cover with a lid or foil and cook in the oven for 45 minutes ot until the lamb is tender.
4.  I served with boil in the bag basmati rice and poppadoms which I cooked in the microwave as a healthier option. Buy uncooked poppadoms and cook in the highest setting in the microwave for 45 seconds they taste delicious they are crisp and toasty. Plus they are only 1.5 syns

Will you give it a go?

Get to Know me Beauty Tag

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
My hair is Naturally straight, very straight. which I love now but when I was at school I wanted curly hair so much I got a perm! It was terrible because my hair is so straight it never really took! Take it from me it was very bad.

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I go to the hair dressers/salon to have my hair coloured, I don't trust myself to do it I'm way too scared it would come out green or something.

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
I nearly always wear my hair down as I don't like the way I look with it up, and because of the straight-ness I don't have to do anything to it. Nights out or special occasions or when I can be bothered I will curl it with a curling wand which is how I like it to look, it just takes an age to do it.

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I have only been to have my nails down once for my Sisters wedding, I love painting my nails If I decide I don't like the colour I can change it straight away without it costing me money.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?
I change them at least twice a week unless I'm really loving a colour then I just touch up. Or if it's glitter I will put it off for as long as possible because it's a bitch to get off!

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?
Yes I always keep my toenails painted, but I don't re-do it very often in the winter It tends to be just for me so I sometimes put a really bright colour you would usually wear in the summer for fun or a heavy Glitter that will last ages.

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?
It really depends if I'm pushed I can get it done in about 10 mins, but I enjoy putting it on so I like to take my time so in that case I can take 40/45 min from start to finish.
My every day for work 20 min.

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
I always do my face first because for me it's the most important that way if I'm running out of time I can do a very simple eye. I feel like it gives me more options.

9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
I am most definitely a collector, and that's due to watching You Tube videos and reading blogs when people like Sprinkle of Glitter, Zoella and Tanya Burr recommend make-up I have to have it. It's an illness LOL.

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
Never, I can't do them!!! :(

11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
Yes most of the time in fact the only day I don't is Sunday, unless I'm going out.

12. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family?
Not if I'm at home alone unless I'm trying something new out, but if I'm with the Family I do most of the time, there the people I love the most so I want to look good for them even if they don't think its necessary.

13. Will you leave the house without makeup?
I will but I don't like to and I do feel a little uncomfortable I would prefer to have at least a little concealer or BB Cream on.

14. How many high-end products do you have?
I'm not sure, more than I should but less than I want. I have to hear very very good things about high end product before I buy it for example Chanel Tan de Chanel I have wanted it for ages, heard loads of great stuff about it, then Bourjois bought the their Bronzing primer loads of people said it was just as good at the 3rd of the price and they are right it's great. So I'm glad I waited saved myself £20.

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?
Most of the time it is when I get dressed but if I'm doing something special I plan. I wish I planned more it would make the morning panic so much easier to take.

16. How often do you change your handbag?
Fairly often I have a large one for when I'm working I will probably change it once a month. if I'm shopping I like a small cross body bag the changes depending on my outfit! Nights out I like a clutch which again depends on what I'm wearing.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
I wake up at around 6.45. I try to be in bed no later than 12am week days I try hard for 11pm because I feel better in the morning for that extra hour.

18. How often or when do you workout?
I try to work out at least 3 times a week but I would like to do it 5 times. I can't always be arsed though if I'm honest.

19. Left handed or right handed?
Right.

20. How tall are you?
5,4" / 5,5"

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?
No apart from the stuff everyone knows I don't. I really wish I could though it's a big regret  that I didn't try harder at school.

22. How many pets do you have?
None

23. How often are you on Blogger?
I am on blogger everyday, mostly reading blogs but I do try to post at least 3 times a week.

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
I do if it is a post I have commented on otherwise I don't really. One of may aims for the future is to comment more I sometimes think they won't read it so whats the point but I love it when people comment on my blog I love there opinions and ideas even if it's different to my own. Plus it gives me great feedback on how I'm doing.

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
Yes, this is why I have no money!!

26. How did you come up with your blog name?
Well It used to be called 'Love Your Lumps'  and was a plus size fashion blog but because my content changed so much I decided I needed a revamp and at the end of February 2013 it decided to change it, that part was all planned. The name however was inspired by the birth of my Cousins baby girl Henrietta. They asked me to be her Godmother, which I was over the moon about, and when I think of godmothers I think of the Fairy Godmother and she has wings! So it felt like they were giving me my fairy wings. So that's where Given me Wings - Musings of a Fairy Godmother came from. I love it! since then I have been asked to be Godmother a second time by my other cousin for their gorgeous little man called Benjamin so seems even more fitting!

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?
I used my iPad mostly but I also have a Olympus VG-170 which I have started to use a little more.

28. How often do you clean your house?
I tidy up most days because I'm very messy I think I should do it once a week but that rarely happens!

29. What's your favorite color?
Depends what it's for Black to wear otherwise this question is too hard!

30. Do you swear?
Yes too often mostly when I'm alone though!

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Working, I'll probably fit in a little more blogging looking forward to getting home putting my feet up in front of the TV with a glass of Red Wine.

This was a long tag! I tag all of you to do this. Tags are fun and a great was for you to get to know me a little and hopefully for me to get to know you!

Stress and Bloggers Block

Hello everyone, I'm back from my break and I feel like I should explain myself a little. Last month was a bit of a weird one for me and I wasn't going to go into it, but I thought perhaps there could be someone out out there who could me going through a similar thing so why not share my thoughts.
At the beginning of August I travelled down to visit my Cousin his Wife and two kids ( 2 year old and 4 week old) in Bristol. A few days after I got home I started to get and weird ache/pressure in my chest. When it first came on I put it down to indigestion or heart burn. But two days later I still had it and it was worse and was constant nothing would really ease it. I started to get  little worried that it might have something to do with my heart, so I did what I think a lot of people do nowadays when something strange happens to your body you want to find out what's wrong, I Goggled my symptoms, this was a mistake and ultimately made the situation worse. My symptoms matched with a few different things, but like I had suspected they were also signs of Angina and heart attack! and to be honest this scared me a little, I'm over weight (quite a lot) and aware that this is not good for you heart but I'm also fairly young so although it did scare me it wasn't enough to rush to A&E.
On the third or forth day it got too much for me and confessed to my Mum (up till then I hadn't told anyone). She made me make an appointment to see Doctor. One thing you should know about me is I HATE gong to the Doctors, and avoid it at all costs I would happily go to be Dentist before the Doctor so this situation was far from fun. I explained this and he was really lovely he first checked my breathing and pulse and listened to my heart and then assured me that the symptoms had nothing to do with my heart he actually told me it sounded healthy, He told me what I was experiencing was Stress.
I thought that Stress was an emotional condition, and of course it is but he told me there are also many physical symptoms to stress like, low energy, headaches, upset stomach, nausea, aches and pains, tense muscles, chest pain, rapid heartbeat and this is just a few.

Within a few days of knowing this and taking his advice on relaxing everything returned to normal but I have to admit it has made me stop and think about things a little.
I love blogging but sometimes I suffer with blogger's block and I can't think of my next blog post I have recognised that this does stress me out I want to make sure that the things I share with you here is something I can be proud of, so taking a break was a just what I needed to get my thoughts in order.
I would just like to point out that blogger's block wasn't the trigger it was just a small part in a few things that have just built up. I have had a little time to think about what could have been some of the causes and my Mom thought that what could have  brought it on was driving on the Motorway to Bristol for the first time. Sounds silly now because I had no problem with it, in fact it quite enjoyed it but I built it all up in my head so much panicking and this was my trigger.
Then it escalated once the pains started worrying about what they could be and having what the Google search said going around in my head defiantly did more harm than good.
I would like to point out that this wasn't the first time something like this has happened to me it was just the first time it concerned me so much I had to seek help. It was only after reading some of the following symptoms that I realised those times in the past when I thought I was just feeling unwell, I was actually too stressed and needed to slow down a bit.
Stress is a normal part of life but too much is a bad thing. Some of the other Behavioural and Emotional Symptoms to look out for are Feeling overwhelmed, like you are losing control or need to take control, Having difficulty relaxing and quieting your mind, Feeling bad about yourself (low self-esteem), Forgetfulness and disorganization, Changes in appetite - either not eating or eating too much, Procrastinating and avoiding responsibilities, Exhibiting more nervous behavior, such as nail biting, fidgeting and pacing.
I have discovered I need a lot of order in my life, I joke about being a love of lists but list are a great way to keep organised, I like to work to a plan to know exactly what I going to be doing and when and I think my stress increases the less control I have. But I am learning I can't control everything and that's ok. I am in no way an expert but  in what to do it If you find yourself feeling stressed and overwhelmed but what has worked for me was stopping, and putting everything in perspective and just relaxing I spent a couple of evenings not doing anything just reading a book or listen to some music watching a DVD (I started watching the complete series of Friends) going for a walk. Getting enough good sleep, eating healthy, a healthy diet and a balanced lifestyle is probably the best remedy of all. Just remember everyone has a little stress in life, just don't let it overwhelm and take over.

If you want to find out a little more about stress the causes, symptoms and how you can help yourself I found this website all about stress anxiety and depression which had this downloadable e-book all about it. I hope this helps someone out there and I hope you don't mind my little ramble.
